Great job working these new stunts the last two nights! The double downs are coming along. We will continue to do some every practice. I think we should really try this level 4.2 but we have to have the stunts to back it up. The following needs to happen to go level 4 stunts:
LIBS:
  • single full down from single leg (Diana and Sabrina have done this before but are out of practice. Micala will try it when she returns.)
  • Double down from two legs (half or extension- prefer extension) (Sabrina has it! two more to go! Diana and Alexis you are close to trying it. Micala we will work yours when you get back)

BASKETS:
  • kick single baskets OR double twist baskets ( we are going to need fliers to RIDE the baskets to get these skills)

MOUNT

  • some sort of flip up to a mount. (many folks tried it the other night so it looks like we have all kinds of gals that can do it.)

Glitz we will work on these little at a time. I am hoping we can go 4.2 after Dayton weekend. We will have to see where we are at with the above stunts.

This Sunday we need to focus focus focus and make sure that we do not have the little mistakes in our routine like we had in INDY. You performed better than you ever have so now our skills will just need to match up with our performance. No hands down on any tumbling (standing or running), no mistakes in stunts, no mistakes in mounts and baskets that fly high. I know you can do it! Clean and tight is what we need to place high.

Let's not forget the good things that happened as well.

  • Best performance to date!
  • Sabrina's lib had been struggling and the group nailed it both days!
  • Great ball star baskets!
  • New lib series was timed up and looking great!
  • Opening stunts stayed in the air (couldn't tell we changed them a million times over the last week!)
  • We had a great time performing!

Come on Sunday ready to work hard for Dayton Jamfest. Let's show'em what Glitz was really suppose to look like!

Alexis - I am so proud of you. You have just jumped back in there like you never missed a day. Great job. Keep up the great work, you look great in the air when you are tight. Work at home on being able to grab your heal stretch without leaning forward. Keep stretching!

Diana - you have a habit of arching your back to make the full down. That’s ok on a full down, but you’ll never make a double. Habits are hard to break, but they are breakable. You can fix it, I have confidence. There are drills that we can work to stop that. You are a beautiful lib flier, your skills look fabulous in the air.

Sabrina - Wohoo! Way to go on those doubles. You just need to really drive that shoulder around at the end and you’ll make it. I am proud of you for getting up and continuing practice after getting whacked a good one. That’s what getting harder stunts is all about. When you are in the air you need to think about being tight, tight, tight. You are tiny, so people can keep you up there, but we want to see you squeezing every muscle. Don’t just place your motions.... B-E AGGRESSIVE! - Oh, and keep stretching!

Micalla - I bet you know what I am going to say.... point those toes. Maybe, pointing your toes is the wrong way to say it. You need to point from your ankle and really push your whole foot down. You need to concentrate on that when you’re in the air. For some reason your flexed foot just jumps right out there and is very obvious. I can’t wait till you get back and whip out these doubles and harder skills. You’ll do fabulous, no doubt.

Hannah - Look at you. We knew you had it in you! You’re doing a great job and your getting more comfortable each practice. You have to work on that flexibility but you are doing a great job!

Bases! Five fliers - count them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Well really, I mean, we have Kalea, Kali and others too. We have fliers coming out of our ears. With all these fliers we can have four groups. But that means that ALL of you bases really need to concentrate on technique. Halves need to go past your nose and then open SLIGHTLY (you need to stand closer). On scrunches you need to push those big toes together. In libs you need to concentrate on really creating a flat and stable place for your flier to stand. Squeeze those fliers feet, it makes them feel safer. No arches in you back when you are extended. You know all of these things, now just put them into practice! Concentrate on your technique, without it mass chaos will happen. Remember that fliers may get all of the glory in the stunt, but bases make it happen.

You guys have come a long way! I know that you can go 4.2. Let’s work for it!

Thanks Coach Abi. I'm so happy I'm grabbing my foot in the libs! Except I know I need to make it higher. I'm really trying!
